How to Set Up IPTV on Android TV, Android Boxes and Nvidia Shield

Setting it up, step by step

1. Launch Google Play

   It waits on the home screen, or beneath Apps on Google TV. Make sure a Google account is signed in beforehand, because the store cheerfully lets you look around without one and only stumbles at the install.

   Get your login details

2. Add an IPTV player

   Look up TiViMate IPTV Player or IPTV Smarters Pro. When this is bound for a television rather than a tablet, favour TiViMate: its guide is the whole point of it, and it sits well ahead of the field.

3. Feed in a playlist or Xtream login

   TiViMate prompts you to Add playlist and then puts up Xtream Codes login. Smarters words it as Login with Xtream Codes API. In both cases you supply one server address, one username and one password.

4. Wait on the channels and guide

   Now it draws down the channel line-up along with the programme data, a minute or two on a cold start and quicker after. Label the playlist if it asks; that only comes into play should you tack on a second later.

5. Sort out your channels

   Kill off any category you would never touch, pin whichever ones you will, and choose the language. In TiViMate all of that lives beneath Settings, then Playlists. Ten minutes spent here is the gap between a television you enjoy and a list that swamps you.

If it does not work first time

The app never appears in Play

A few cheaper boxes ship the handset edition of Android, which buries listings meant only for TVs. Instead, sideload the APK by way of Downloader, taking the same route the Firestick guide sets out.

Nothing loads into the EPG

Allow the opening download to complete before you form a view, then kick off Update EPG from within the app settings. Your login carries the guide source with it, though for the odd player that insists on a standalone URL, support can supply one.
